In Deconstruction LXVIII – Neon, light heightens the text’s and sign’s fragmentary quality, turning a functional means of communication into an object suspended between urban memory and spatial perception. The work incorporates Aldo Novarese’s Stop typeface, designed in the early 1970s for the Nebiolo foundry in Turin: a geometric, highly stylized display face created for signage, logos, and commercial communication. Its presence strengthens the work’s link to the visual culture of industrial Italy in the second half of the 20th century, while also evoking consumer culture, signage, and the layered character of the contemporary urban landscape.
